<p>A cleaning and decontaminating prod. contains an oil-soluble detergent, which is a solvent for iodine but insol. in water, iodine being dissolved in it to 15 wt. % at least. It also contains a strong acid in an iodine to acid wt. ratio exceeding 1:80, and a solubilising hydrotrope for the detergent in water. The detergent pref. has a low molecular wt. with short hydrophile chains, partic. of ethylene oxide. The hydrotrope is pref. derived from sulphates or sulphonates of alkaline salt of polynuclear complexes, polyalkylated; sulphates of alkyl (dimethyl) naphthalene complexes; 1,2 dimethylnaphthalene sulphonate; mono- or dimethyl-sulphonate; modified metallic polyalkyl-polynuclear. Its molecular wt. is pref. 245-260. An anti-foam can also be added. The prod. is used for cleaning and steresilising instrument and machines, partic. in the food industry. Strong detergents are formed, which can be very acid. They give low foam formation, even at low temps. They are also excellent iodine carriers, giving stable clear solns. the iodine being active in acid medium.</p> |
