<p>1504804 Feeding gum slabs PACKAGE MACHINERY CO 25 Feb 1975 [25 April 1974] 36595/77 Divided out of 1504803 Heading B5A Apparatus for feeding gum slabs 5 to trimming and scoring rollers 20 comprises a magazine 14 mounted to pivot about an axis transverse to the feed path 18 to allow access in the event of jamming and a reciprocal pusher 52 comprising a series of fingers each having a stepped surface so that an abutment surface 58 can push each slab 5 off support plates 60 positioned beneath the magazine on to the lower step of each finger, the plates 60 preventing return of the slab upon retraction of the pusher so that the slab drops on to the feed path 18 for further movement by the leading surface 56 of the lower step portion of each finger during the next cycle of the pusher. A pusher (82, Fig. 2) for aligning the slab in a direction transverse of the feed path is provided. Reciprocating fingers 88 feed each slab from the scoring rollers 20 to a conveyer 24 which carries each slab to a breaker for breaking the scored slab into individual sticks for wrapping in a packaging machine (12, Fig. 2).</p> |
