<p>The arrester net to prevent aircraft overshooting the end of the runway in the event of a brake failure has an upper (1) and lower strap (2) connected by a number of vertical straps (3). The upper and lower straps are connected by knots to the buckles (8, 9) of the straps (10, 11) and also to the slack straps (12, 13). The straps (10, 11) have loops (4, 5) which are bridged by three other straps. When the aircraft exerts too great a force on the straps (1, 2) the straps (14, 15) are broken. If the force to bring the aircraft to rest increases, the straps (16, 17) and then the straps (18, 19) are broken in succession so that the arresting forcee is kept to a min. to avoid possible damage to the aircraft.</p> |
