1482052 Valves BAXTER TRAVENOL LABORATORIES Inc 1 April 1975 [4 April 1974] 13318/75 Heading F2V The conical plug 14 of a three-way rotary valve is resiliently held in the body of the valve by triangular ears 44 disposed on an annular depending flange 42 of the plug, which ears co-operate with a conical surface 34 on a flange 28 on the valve body. The flange 28 is also provided with a conical surface 30 to facilitate insertion of the plug into the socket. Such a locking device biases the plug against the socket wall to effect sealing but allows movement of the plug in the axial direction under high pressure thus reducing cracking and breakage. In another embodiment a projection is provided on the surface 48 of the ear which co-operates with a gap in the flange 28 to lock the plug in a particular position. Markings may also be provided on the plug and body to indicate the particular position of the plug.
