Heavy duty cable insulated with thermostable plastics has connecting or dividing box(es) with a terminal taking the exposed wire for contacting the leads, which has a plastics housing and seals. The box housing contains barrel-shaped, adhesive backing at each inlet and outlet, placed so that it surrounds the end protruding from the cable covering into the box and the individual wires of the terminal. The boxes can be produced with little expenditure and the inside is sealed well against penetration of moisture.
