The latching device for a coaxial cable plug connector prevents the joint from being unintentionally disconnected by tensile stresses. It is usually mounted on racks for telecommunication equipment such as computer terminals in an office. A bracket (5) is fixed to a vertical strut (4) which supports the instrument rack. The office cable (3) leads to the back of the bracket with the rows and columns of the terminal contacts. The connector has a guide bush (2) with a slot (1). The associated coaxial socket (6) has a bent clamping spring (9) which is held in position by a nut. The nut engages in the slot (1) of the guide bush. When the connector is inserted, the locking spring will slide over the guide bush and engage at the edges.
