PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer type instrument capable of reducing a light leak to the display board side. SOLUTION: This pointer type instrument is provided with a pointer 6, which has an indicating member 61 made of a translucent resin material brightened by the illumination light introduced from the back face side of a rotation center region R and a cover member 62 made of a shading resin material covering the outer periphery of the rotation center region R except for the back face side and is rotatively driven via a driving device 2, the display board 3 arranged behind the pointer 6 at a prescribed gap section S with the cover member 62 and having a translucent section 33 corresponding to the rotation center region R, a light source 5 arranged behind the display board 3 to generate the illumination light, and a light leakage preventing section 634 arranged on the back face side (back face side of a pedestal section 632) of the rotation center region R except for the guiding section of the illumination light (a light receiving section 611 and a reflecting section 612) to suppress the light leakage from the gap section S.
