1369956 Hose clips H OETIKER 10 April 1973 [11 April 1972 9 Aug 1972] 17229/73 Heading E2B A hose clip, Fig. 1, comprises a flexible elongated strip 1 having a first longitudinally extending series of holes 3 adjacent a first end 2, a second longitudinally extending series of holes 8 adjacent a second end 4, and a longitudinally extending slot 9 intermediate the two series of holes such that the strip may be wrapped around a hose 6 with the end 2 overlying a portion of the strip and at least a section of the series of holes accessible through the slot. The strip also has at least one first barb 5 engageable with a hole 3 of the first series of holes of the wrapped around strip, and at least a second barb 11 between the series of holes 3 and the barb 5, the or each barb 11 being directed towards the barb 5 and the or each barb 11 and the or each hole of the second series of holes 8 accessible through the slot presenting circumferentially, oppositely directed surfaces engageable by a tool to urge them circumferentially in opposite senses to tighten the clip around the hose. As shown, the end 4 of the clip has a tongue 12 which is located in the slot 9, and there are deformations 31, 32 and 33 in the strip forming the clip. The clip may be split at at least one position to define ends 36 provided with apertures 37 in which is engaged a spring member 38 enclosing a cylindrical piece 41 of resilient material; the crown of the loop of the member may have an indentation therein. A tool, Fig. 3, for tightening the clip may comprise a lever 13 rigid with a toothed wheel 14 and a strip 15 hinged to the lever to pivot about the axis of the wheel; the teeth of the latter are engaged in the holes 8 and holes 17 in the strip 15 are engaged over the barbs 11 so that by pivoting the lever in the direction of the arrow X the clip is tensioned and the barbs 5 hooked into the holes 3. In Fig. 4, the tensioning tool 110 comprises a rotatable screwed spindle 22 in a sleve 18 and carrying a member 23 provided with a hook for engagement in the holes 8 and a pivoted member 25 on the sleeve provided with holes 28 in which the barbs 11 are engaged. An alternative form of tool comprises a plate member having a tongue engageable in the holes 8 and pivoted against the end wall of the slot 9 to tighten the clip. |
