The copying machine is designed as a four-spool mechanism. Two unwinding spools carry the subsidiary tapes to be played and two winding-on spools take up the subsidiary tapes. At any given time, one unwinding spool and and one associated winding-on spool going to make up a complete subsystem can be stopped while the other subsystem is in operation. To drive the subsidiary tapes, there need by only one sound roller, but there are two rubber contact rollers pressing the subsidiary tape in question against the sound roller.
