A process for forming yellow image in a light-sensitive silver halide photographic material which uses as a yellow image-forming a coupler a compound of the formula <IMAGE> wherein A is a yellow image-forming coupler residue having an active methylene group; <IMAGE> is a group which has been substituted for one hydrogen atom of the active methylene group in said coupler residue A; and Z is a group selected from alkylene, alkenylene, cycloalkylene, cycloalkenylene, terphenylene, arylene and pyridine-diyl groups.
