The house, designed for rapid assembly from prefabricated elements, is esp. suitable for erection in areas devastated by earthquakes. The external wall (1) is a double wall made up from outside and inside elements (2). These are hollowed out on interfacing sides, over their whole breadth and from near their top edge (4) down to an interval short of their bottom edge (5), so as to provide a continuous cavity (6) inside the double wall. The wall elements can be held together by metal rails at top and bottom edges, with side flanges enclosing the whole edge length. Where the side surfaces are not hollowed out they can be cemented together. The main components can be of reinforced concrete, and demountable. Simple formwork can be used for concreting on site, producing an easily assembled but stable structure.
|
