The sequence of operation of feeding the tube, clamping it in a required position, matching the holes and retracting the clamping jaws and rotary cutters is effected automatically, limit switches and stops (not shown) being provided so that the movement of machine parts can be preset in relation to the tubing being produced. The clamping jaws 27, 271 are interconnected by a linkage 28 and actuated by an air cylinder 29 which is operated according to the machine cycle. Similarly, the rotary cutters 30 are all interconnected by a lesser system 32 which is operated through a lever 37 from an eccentric 3 actuated by an air cylinder 33 attached to rack-and-pinion means 34, 35. The tubing feed conveyer 15, 151 is likewise intermittently actuatable by a chain and sprocket drive 25, 39 from an air clutch 24 from a rack-and-pinion, operated by an air cylinder 21. The rotary cutters may be saws or drills.
