<p>Loom for e.g. weaving tapes has a reed which is moveable vertically to positions adjacent weft pickers arranged one above the other. A weft picker associated with a selected weft yarn is picked and moves across a track on the reed. Vertical movement of the reed and picking of the selected weft picker is controlled by a mechanism including a cam element mounted essentrically on a main drive shaft and having a large arcuate track and a small acruate track concentric with the shaft. A first control rod is connected at one end to a reciprocating drive for moving the reed and at the other end has a roller which runs in the cam element, the roller being connected to one end of a stabilising lever the other end of which is connected to a fixed pivot point. The actuation of the weft pickers is controlled by a second control rod which is pivoted at one end and which is connected to a reciprocating drive at the other end. The second control has a roller at an intermediate position and which runs in the cam. Rotation of the cam causes the drives to actuate the reed and weft pickers. The device is simple, cheap, compact and produces controlled movement of the reed and weft pickers.</p> |
