High current limiting circuit breaker - handles currents of around 1000 amps. with low mass contacts to allow fast action

The circuit breaker for high level currents, is designed to have a low operating time. Two sets of contacts, connected electrically in parallel, provide a main circuit breaker and separate spark inhibiting pair. The order of currents that can be handled is 1000 amps, the mass of the main contacts being such as to accommodate such currents whilst maintaining fast action. The unit includes a counter such that after a given number of repeated openings of the breaker it remains in the open state. Operation is initiated by exceeding a threshold current level, activating the primary gap and the integral comparatively high resistance spark suppressor gap.
