<p>Foamed plastic mouldings, particularly of polyurethane, are produced in a press in which the halves of the mould are attached to two platens, the upper of which moves to and from the lower while remaining parallel to it and pivots about a lateral axis; the upper platen pivots on a beam which moves on two guide pins mounted vertically on the lower platen, and a two-way pressure cylinder operates both the movements of the upper mould half and is fixed to both the upper and lower halves. Simple mechanism to open the top platen, the closed mould is held locked by positive pressure independent of the closing mechanism, access to the open mould is from three sides.</p> |
