<p>The automatic battery charging circuit, for navigation systems in aircraft and space vehicles etc, has a temp sensor coupled to the battery cells, and a reference cell at ambient temp acting as a compensator. The reference cell (3) is not connected into a circuit but is otherwise identical to the battery cells (2). A regulator switches to a higher charging current only after the charging source has a been switched off. This means that the cells are only charged after they have experienced discharging - thereby preventing overcharging.</p> |
