The mechanism allows the user of a seat belt to have the webbing pulled forward to facilitate comfortable application of the belt. When the belt is not in use it is tidied away and the user has some difficulty in getting hold of it. The mechanism consists of a pedal to which a cable line is attached. The other end of the cable line with sheathing is fixed to one arm of a two-armed lever. The longer arm has a roller on its end engaging with the seat belt webbing kept in a tidied-away position by the take-up mechanism. By operating the pedal the roller pulls the webbing forward against the resistance of the take-up mechanism, so that the user can easily slip his arm under the belt.
|
