PURPOSE:To obtain a camera which can focus on all subjects in its range finding zones as much as possible by detecting the distribution patter of the subjects from pieces of distance information from plural range finding zones and adjusting the position of a photographic lens system in the direction of the optical axis or the angle of the optical axis according to the distribution pattern of the subjects. CONSTITUTION:A range finding device detects whether a subject is farther Df or closer Dn than a reference distance D0 and has the light projection system composed of an infrared-ray(IRED) 12 and a projection lens 13 and the photodetection system composed of a photodetection lens 14 and a two-split photodetector (SPD) 15. Range finding devices like this are provided vertically one over another corresponding to three range finding zones X, Y, and Z. It is decided whether the subjects OX, OY, and OZ are far or close from whether outputs (AX and BX, AY and BY, and AZ and BZ) of photodetection parts A and B of two-split photodetector 15X and 15Y are large or small. Then, the distribution pattern of the subjects is detected by utilizing the far-close information. The camera is focused on all the subjects by moving plural lens groups according to the distribution pattern information. |
