The label which is attached to the animals ear consists of a plastic envelope (10) which is composed of two symmetrical part (10A, 10B). These two parts (10A, 10B) are connected to it other along one edge (11) and are folded over against eac other. The parts (10A, 10B) have positioning devices (12, 13) which ensure the guidance of the two parts into the folded position. The devices consists of studs (12) in one part (10A) of the label which engages into a holes (13) cut into the other part (10B) of the label. The two parts of the label are sealed together by thermal, chemical, or electric welding of the plastic.
