Connection of two perpendicular panels - uses bolt with flared conical head entering socket and engaged by conical nose of offset perpendicular screw

The connector is for use in fixing two perpendicular panels (10A, 10B) together and uses converging perpendicular cones to obtain a wedging effect with compression on the joint interface. A rod (12) with a flared part conical head (13) projects normally from a major face (11A) of one panel and enters a socket (32, 25) in the edge of the other panel. A screw (27) with a pointed conical nose is inserted in a threaded hole in the major face of the second panel, and is positioned so as the resp coned faces engage. The axis of the screw (27) is perpendicular to and offset relative that of the cone headed rod (12). The socket and threaded hole may be incorporated in a solid cylindrical block (11B) which is recessed into the major face of the second panel. The rod (12) may have an enlarged circular section haunch (16) of which the dia correspond with that of the socket (32) and serves to centre the rod in situ.
