An electro-magnetic pump may be used for various applications. It uses the principle of generating an oscillatory current in an electro-magnet which operates on a central piston. The pump is symmetrical and co-axial about the fluid line and has an upper enclosure housing the pump coils. These are spaced away from the fluid line a thin walled cylinder extending to the valve housing. The valve housing provides a junction with the pump output connection, the output valve itself being held by a constant pressure helical spring (15). A further spring at the centre and upper or input end of the pump bears on an inner sleeve which moves under the influence of the coil field and provides the pump action.
