<p>The snow chain has an array of plastic cross treads (4) linked by elastic side straps (2). Securing hoops (5) are fitted to the chain at intervals, and have claw ends. The hoops are sprung to grip the edges of the wheel rim when fitted to the tyre. The chain is laid along the ground and the wheel rolled onto it. The hoops are automatically clipped into place to secure the chain. No tools are required and the chain can be fitted to wheels in narrow mudguard spaces, where access to the wheel rim is difficult. The ends of the chain has interlocking catches to tighten the chain on the tyre.</p> |
