<p>A document processing system in which microfilms are made, particularly for making records of births, deaths and marriages for town hall records, has the documents placed into partitions or pockets on a moving belt travelling between mandrels. The size of the belt permits one or more paths to be used. Each document is located in a corresponding pocket, so that it can be removed or replaced independently of the others. The documents can be subjected to automatic or semi-automatic processing. A set of side by side belts may be used. The belt size can be scanned to localise a document for photocopying, without removing it.</p> |
