(In)organic materials, esp. wood, plastic, porous materials, etc., are perforated or pierced by directing jets of fluid at a relatively high press., suited to the thickness of the material, against the object to be treated. The jets make a shockwise, intermittent impact on the workpiece which is moved relatively to the nozzles in a programmed sequence. The fluid may contain additives with colouring or preservative characteristics, as in treatment of wooden telegraph poles. A faster and simpler method is obtd. of treating all kinds of materials, whilst keeping the losses of structural strength down to the absolute min.
|
