The transport belt, for electronic components in machines that automatically insert components into printed circuit boards, consists of a backing tape (1) and a retaining tape (2) that holds the components to the backing tape. Both tapes are coated with a contact adhesive. The backing tape is stiffer than the retaining tape and has a pressed ridge (5) running along it near one edge to act as ledge support for the components. Holes (8) in the backing tape are used to drive the belt. The holes may be in the body of the tape or at its edge, or both.
