<p>Weatherproof covering for wooden door comprises a patterned plastic film which is stretched over the door in the heated state, and fixed by staples in a groove extending around the sides of the door. The groove may then be covered with cover strips to finish the door. Heating of the film subjects it to high stress on cooling, causing it to be pressed against the door with such force that it becomes integral with the door. The covering allows rapid working, costs little, and provides a long-lasting appearance of newness. It can be used for rapid renovation of old doors and may be applied manually or mechanically. A self-coloured film may also be used. It is more resistant to weathering, and to dirt and cleaning, preserving its gloss for a long time.</p> |
