1472809 Degradable polymers and compositions thereof SNAMPROGETTI SpA 10 Oct 1974 [24 Oct 1973] 44037/74 Heading C3P Degradable polymers are produced by reaction of (i) a polymer containing groups with (ii) a compound of formula where X is H, halogen, -COR, -SO 3 H, -R, -SCN, -NO, -CN, -COOH or -COOR, where R is a hydrocarbon radical. In examples, ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer is reacted with alpha-diazoacetophenone or the p-chloroderivative thereof. The above products may be mixed with other polymers less susceptible to degradation. In examples, films are formed from mixtures of the degradable polymers with low or high density polyethylene or with polypropylene.
