The free-standing noise-screening wall is for erection at the sides of motorways or railways tracks for the reduction of noise in residential areas. It has a number of holes for looking through (5, 6), distributed over its surface area. These openings may widen towards the road or track. The side facing the road or track, at least, may have a surface coating of foamed substance, fibrous material or other loosely structured matter. It may be assembled from two spaced panels, with aligned holes for looking through, the ones on the road or track side being much larger than the others. The unpleasant sensation of being totally cut off and shut in by such walls is reduced, with no significant reduction in sound insulating effect.
|
