1490487 Blow moulded barrel MAUSER K-G 8 July 1976 [4 Oct 1975] 28423/76 Heading B5A [Also in Division B8] A barrel of plastics material is formed with an outwardly extending peripheral flange 6 of solid section and of a thickness greater than the barrel wall adjacent the barrel opening, by blow moulding a tube between mould halves 2, 3, Fig. 1, to form the wall of the barrel into an outwardly projecting hollow rib 4 and then, whilst the wall is still plastic, displacing the mould halves 2, 3, towards each other to collapse the axially opposite walls of the rib 4 together to form the rib into the flange 6. The blow moulded barrel is moulded with a corrugated neck portion 5, from above which blow moulded material is cut away to form the barrel opening. The flange 6 is outwardly tapered, between lower and upper surfaces which are respectively inclined to and at right angles to the barrel axis. The barrel is closed by a lid 11 sealing to the top of the neck 5 at a seal 17, and having an inner skirt 13 contacting the neck 5 and an outer skirt 14 terminating at an outwardly extending flange 15, at which the lid is clamped to the flange 6 by a ring 16.
|
