Injection moulding materials for radiological protection purposes comprise 100 pts. wt. of a C2H74/Vi acetate copolymer (I) and 50-150 pts. wt. PbO. Pref. (I) is heated on rolls to about 140 degrees C and PbO is then added in powder form, mixed in and the prod. granulated. Used to provide a radiation shield against X-rays, etc. where transparency is necessary. Protection is obtd. more easily and less expensively than when Pb-contg. silicate glass is used. |
