The illuminated window box is equiped with soil humidification an illuminated fountain. Humidification is provided in the form of wicks which distribute water to the soil from a central reservoir. The fountain may be incorporated in a separate transparent dish contg. water and surmounting the reservoir. A pump which is set in the base of the dish circulates the water as an aerial jet. A bulb which is mounted on the pump housing illuminates the fountain from beneath. Plant illumination may comprise camouflaged bulbs set in the planting areas. Electric power is fed to the bulbs via wires which traverse sealed conduits, and is controlled by switches.
