The plastic child proof screw cap (1) is in one piece and has an anuular skirt (4) with an internal thread (G). Around its base is a collar (12) separated from the skirt to form and annular space contg. one or more tabs (7) each supported by a tongue (6) off the skirt and free to move. The bottom face (9) of each tab is inclined downwards in the direction of unscrewing. Each tab butts against a corresponding stop (14) on the bottle neck. A vertical face (16) on the stop prevents unscrewing until the tabs are lifted elastically.
