<p>An alloy powder made of copper and lead, and opt. contg. tin, is made by the atomization of the molten alloy. The novetly is that boron is added to the melt as a deoxidant. The boron addn. pref. results in the finished powder contg. by wt. 0.025-0.5% B, and the metl may also contain max. 0.05, esp. max. 0.03% phosphorus. The pref. powder contains by wt. 5-50% Pb, 0-20% Sn, 0.025-0.5% B, balance Cu and trace impurities; this powder may also contain 0.05, esp. 0.03% max. P. Process is used for the mfr. of lead bronze bearing powders which are sintered onto a steel substrate in a reducing atmos.</p> |
