<p>Chipboards and hardboards are given a coating of colour or lacquer without surface prepn. by pressing timber materials in platen presses, applying pressure before heating and then applying a priming coat to the surface. Process dispenses with any need to sand the boards before surface treatment, or to used primed plates, or undercoates. The press platens are preferably electrically heated. The cold pressed "biscuit" is treated with adhesive solution and coatings as are used in the paper industry.</p> |
