<p>A foot operated brake pedal (4) is mounted under the perambulator chassis, with the foot end (3) extending from under the rear of the frame. The front of the lever has metal jaws (9) into which are clipped replaceable rubber blocks (8). These form a Vee groove which is pressed over the axle bar (12) joining the rear wheels (13). The axle bar rotates with at least one of the rear wheels. The brake provides a secure hold even on steep slopes and is not affected by wet or dirty conditions. The Vee groove can be pressed over the axle with a strong force. The pads are easily replaced when worn.</p> |
