Antibiotic BM123 and production thereof

This disclosure describes 5 new antibacterial agents designated BM123 alpha , BM123 beta 1, BM123 beta 2, BM123 gamma 1, and BM123 gamma 2 produced in a microbiological fermentation under controlled conditions using a new strain of an undetermined species of Nocardia and mutants thereof. The new antibacterial agents are active against a variety of microorganisms and thus are useful in inhibiting the growth of such bacteria wherever they may be found.
