[Also in Division H2] A welded electrical connection between a bar wire 11 and an insulated conductor 12 is made by locating a conductive band 16 around the conductor 12 and forcing during welding the bare wire 11 and the adjacent part of the band 16 through the insulation, the wire 11, band 16 and conductor 12 being fused together. Welding is effected by a smaller electrode 18 and a larger electrode 19 grooved to receive the wire 11 and conductor 12 respectively. The overlapped ends 17 of the band 16 are located under the electrode 18. The insulation under the electrode 18 fuses due to the welding heat but the insulation adjacent the electrode 19 does not. |
