PURPOSE:To obtain a secondary battery having a high energy density and good cycle characteristics by using mixed material of EPDM with PTFE for binding agent used for a positive pole. CONSTITUTION:For a battery comprising a negative pole consisting of sodium alloy or mixed material of sodium allay with carbon material and binding agent, and a positive pole consisting of sodium-cobalt oxide, conductivity assisting agent and binding agent, the binding agent used for the positive material consists of ethylene propylene copolymeric rubber (EPDM) and polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE). The electrode of the positive pole is thus softened, and shortcircuiting is eliminated. A performance having a high energy density and good cycle characteristics is achieved. |
