1289153 Tape cassettes SONY CORP 30 Oct 1969 [30 Oct 1968 (2)] 53340/69 Heading G5R A tape cassette has outer walls allowing the spacing between supply and takeup hubs to be selected to suit a tape recorder transport, the hubs remaining in fixed locations during use. As shown the cassette walls have openings 15a allowing brackets 53 carrying the hubs to be pivoted by pins 56 on an adapter 39c attached to the cassette by spring catches or otherwise to allow it to be used with a player designed for larger cassettes. The adapter also has a lever 60 to operate a switch 59 in the player only if a break-out portion of the cassette is intact. The portion is removable manually or automatically after recording. In modifications, the cassette walls have canted slots which may be figure-of-eight with resilient constrictions, and the adapter has break-out portions. |
