PURPOSE:To suppress the rise of the oil temperature and prevent the reduction of the driving power by shift-down-operating the speed change stage determined from a normal speed change map only in the case where the tilt angle is at least a prescribed value with which the oil temperature of a torque converter is raised over an allowable value. CONSTITUTION:A controller 7 reads in the output of a shift position sensor 6, and when the output is in a 'D range', the outputs of a car speed sensor 3, throttle opening degree sensor 4, and a tilt angle sensor 5 are read, and the speed change stage corresponding to the car speed and the throttle opening degree is determined on the basis of a speed change map. When the tilt angle read in from the tilt angle sensor 5 exceeds a prescribed value, shift-down to the determined speed change stage is performed, while if it is judged that the tilt angle does not exceed a prescribed angle, shift-down is not carried out. Accordingly, the slip of a torque converter during ascending a slope is reduced, and the oil temperature rise of the torque converter can be suppressed without reducing the driving power, obviating the need of increasing the cooling specification. |
