An arrangement for measuring the power of optical radiation, especially laser radiation, with a radiation-transparent optical component in the radiation region and a sensor to detect a physical characteristic providing a measure for the power momentarily passing through the optical component and a signal transformer fitted behind the sensor, in which the optical component (20) is constructed in such a way that initially a first physical characteristic of the optical component which is substantially proportional to the radiation power passing through said component changes and, as a result of this change, at least one other physical characteristic changes substantially in proportion to the first physical characteristic, and that the sensor (21, 22) is constructed as a signal transformer to generate information transmissible along a signal path, the content of said information being determined by the last physical characteristic.
