Plug in modules for rack mounted circuits - with modules located on floor mounted supply channel and coupled with overhead interconnection channel

A modular racking system for electrical and electronic systems of large capacity, such as those encountered in telephone communication installations, is designed to provide ease of assembly and servicing particularly where large bundles of input and output cables are involved. A general input cabinet (1) is located on the floor of the installation and carries all input cables (3). An overhead channel (9) carries all interconnecting cables between different modules. Rack (2) mounted circuits and instruments may be stacked in modules (6) on the base unit which has a facility for levelling. The pre-wired modules are readily coupled to supply points using plug in cables (7) via fused couplings (12) covered by a rear housing (13). Each rack has an earth conductor running vertically over its length and with facility for each module to be coupled.
