21-Aldehydes of the pregnanes of general formula (I) - R1 = H or F - R2 = free- or esterified hydroxyl - R3 and R4 = free-, esterified- or etherified hydroxy - or R3 + R4 = oxo. - Esterified hydroxyl groups derived from aliphatic-, alicyclic-, aromatic- or heterocyclic carboxylic acids (C1-C18) - Etherified hydroxyl groups derived from aliphatic-, araliphatic- or heterocyclic alcohols(C1-8) or cyclic ethers derived from alcohols. - (I) have anti-inflammatory activity. They are also intermediates for other active cpds.
