The aircraft control system provides for the generation of an aircraft command speed signal and its combination with a calibrated craft velocity signal for generation of an air speed error for operating an air speed throttle control servo. A multiplier gain control element preceding the throttle servo alters the gain of the air speed error signal in a predetermined programmed manner in terms of calibrated air speed, altitude rate, and air speed error, thus providing reliable and safe control over the several modes of operation of the aircraft, including the climb, take off, cruise, let down, approach, and landing modes.
