The joint has a band (4) with an anchoring unit (7) on its face turned towards a support plate (5). The unit has a profile similar to the band and is connected to the band by a connecting part (8) whose dimension in a transversal plane perpendicular to the band is smaller than the dimension corresponding to the contiguous part of the unit. The unit has a shape and size such that the unit is introduced, by deformation, in an oblong hole (6) which receives the plate for the restoration of its initial shape by elasticity by locking the band in position. An independent claim is also included for a method for installing a sealing joint.
