<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both of miniaturizing a keyboard by the change of key arrangement while maintaining key intervals (19 mm) of a standard-sized keyboard and using a mastered skill about conventional QWERTY arrangement. <P>SOLUTION: Whether 26 keys of alphabetic characters A to Z out of keys constituting a keyboard are arranged in accordance with standard key arrangement or not dominantly has a large influence on input of sentences. These 26 keys are maintained in conventional key arrangement but the other keys having no influence on an input speed are discarded as much as possible, and characters to be inputted by the other keys are assigned to alphabetic keys and are allowed to be inputted by a special shift operation. As a result, functions equivalent to those of a conventional keyboard are implemented by about half the number of keys of the conventional keyboard.
