PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for reducing a noise in an image signal by which the noise in the image signal is reduced so as to produce a color image with a high resolution. SOLUTION: The method of reducing the noise in the image signal from a solid-state imaging element with a color pixel arrangement is provided. This method includes: a first step of selecting a noise reduction object pixel at the prescribed position of the color pixel arrangement as a center pixel and selecting a plurality of pixels around the center pixel as surrounding pixels; a second step of calculating the correction pixel value of the center pixel on the basis of the pixel value of the center pixel and respective pixel values of the surrounding pixel values; and a third step of replacing the original pixel value of the center pixel with the correction pixel value.
