<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and display method capable of preventing an afterimage phenomenon, while always determining the display contents over the entire part of a screen. <P>SOLUTION: A central processing unit 18 generates OSD patterns arranged evenly dispersedly with black pixels based on the unit regions (M, N) set in an internal memory section 16 for every display position Pos and stores the patterns in a display element, and a temporary memory section 19 for display processing. When displaying the image, the OSD pattern of the next display position Pos from among the OSD patterns stored in the temporary memory section 19 for displaying, and display processing, and substitutes the pixels existing in the black pixels of the extracted OSD patterns among the pixels of the original display image to be displayed.
