PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval system which can perform retrieval at high speed using a function of a processor equipped fundamentally. SOLUTION: Data to be retrieved is stored in a general purpose register which is a part of a basic configuration of an arithmetic circuit in a retrieval system equipped with an arithmetic circuit which retrieves a retrieval key from data to be retrieved. The general purpose register has flags which individually indicate up to n pieces of retrieval results which are carried out matching test simultaneously, and has a representative flag when all test results do not match. The above flag digitizes a location of an endmost flag to store in the register and when it is mismatching, this endmost flag is changed to indicates mismatching. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
