Three oscillatory label carriers 2 (Fig. 1) simultaneously supply labels to raised areas 1<SP>1</SP> of a rotatable transfer drum 1 from which the labels are removed by a labelling cylinder 4 and attached to bottles or the like on a transport device. In the form described and illustrated, the label carriers, transfer drum and labelling culinder are on a common mounting 8 with a gluing roller 3 which applies glue for the labels to the raised areas 1<SP>1</SP> of the transfer drum. This mounting can be moved vertically to control the height of attachment of the labels to the articles and also towards or away from the transport device to allow the labelling cylinder to register with articles of different diameters. A rotary table 6 withdraws articles to be labelled from an endless belt to which they are returned after labelling. |
